Help / Read and scroll

Pick a scrolling mode: continuous, paging or timed

Continuous scrolls at the speed you set, paging moves a screen at a time, and timed fits the rest of the script into the number of seconds you give it.

  1. Open the prompter's settings. Start a script, open Settings and choose Scrolling.
  2. Pick the mode. Continuous for most reads, paging to move a screenful at a time, timed for a slot that has to end on the second.
  3. For timed, set the finish. The FINISH IN row starts at the time the script would take now; Less time and More time move it in 15-second steps, from 15 seconds to 3 hours. The scroll fits what's left into that time. Change the speed afterwards and your speed takes over from the fit.
  4. Add a countdown if you want one. Under Start and stop, Countdown runs from 0 to 30 seconds (3 is the default) and is saved with the script. In a session every device counts on the same clock.

Cues and the clocks

Mark a paragraph as a cue and you can jump to the next or previous cue from the app, a remote, the Watch or a pedal. A cue can also carry its own speed: in a continuous scroll, the scroll takes that speed when the reading line reaches the cue and keeps it until the next cue with a speed, or until you change it. Timed mode ignores cue speeds. Speed changes ease in over about a quarter of a second, so a jump in speed never jerks the text.

The clocks read EST. ELAPSED, EST. LEFT and DRIFT. They're estimates, worked out from where the scroll is and how many words are left.

If that didn't work

If a timed read ends early or late, check whether the speed was changed after you set the time. Write to us.
