Help / Set up a rig or a second screen

Mirror the text for a beam-splitter rig

Turn on Mirror left to right in the prompter's settings and the text reads correctly in the glass. A display under the glass can get a clean feed with its own mirror setting.

  1. Open Settings, then Mirror & display. Turn on Mirror left to right. Some rigs also need Mirror top to bottom; the two are separate switches.
  2. Keep it mirrored while you edit, if you like. Turn on Keep the mirror while editing; otherwise the text turns the right way round while you fix a line.
  3. Send a clean feed to the rig. On iPhone and iPad, connect an external display and it gets the script with no controls on it. On the Mac, open the External Feed window and drag it to the second display.
  4. Set the feed's own mirror. The feed has its own mirror switches, so the rig can be mirrored while the screen in your hand reads normally. Choose Both screens, Rig only or This device only, and a standby card if you want one between takes.

A take you record is never mirrored. Under Text you can also pick the face (including OpenDyslexic or any font on the device), the size, margins, spacing and colors, and under Reading line & screen the shape of the reading line and a focus band.

If that didn't work

If the rig shows a mirrored picture of the controls, the display is mirroring the whole screen. Choose Rig only in the layouts so it gets the clean feed. Write to us.
