Help / Voice follow

Which languages voice follow understands

Voice follow listens in the script's language, using Apple's speech recognition on your device. It works wherever Apple provides on-device recognition for that language on that device, and isn't available for Slovenian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Bulgarian or Farsi.

  1. Open the script. In the editor, the Language row shows the script's language. The app fills it in when it's sure, and you can always set it yourself.
  2. Turn on Voice follow. If the device has no on-device model for that language, the switch says voice follow is unavailable rather than sending your voice anywhere.

What happens to your voice

Recognition runs on the device only, with no server to fall back to, so it needs no connection. Nothing is recorded. Voice follow is off until you turn it on, and the microphone is asked for only then.

The app itself is in 41 languages, and the app's language and each script's language are separate settings. Scripts in Hebrew, Arabic and Farsi read right to left.

If that didn't work

If your language should be supported and the switch still says unavailable, write to us with the device and the language. Write to us.
